Finland - Summer Qigong Sesshin With Karen Terzano & Robert Rosenbaum

  • Lammi Retreat Center 681 Kataloistentie Hämeenlinna, 16900 Finland (map)

This summer, Ordinary Mind Zendo Finland is offering a seven day retreat (sesshin) with Ordinary Mind Finland's teacher Karen Terzano and a visiting teacher Robert Rosenbaum.

Body and Mind Study of the Way of Compassion - Integrating Zen and Dayan Qigong

Sitting meditation (zazen) and moving meditation (qigong) fit like a box and its lid. During this sesshin we will complement zazen by learning the 64 movements, warm-up exercises, and acupressure self-massage of Dayan (Wild Goose) Qigong. This ancient Taoist form was developed by a Buddhist monk to sustain health and deepen meditation so it permeates Zen flesh and Zen bones. We will also study Dogen’s essay “Body and Mind Study of the Way.”

When we rest in the stillness at the heart of movement and draw on the energy inherent in tranquility, compassion blossoms naturally.

Teachers:

Karen Terzano is an American Zen Buddhist teacher in the Ordinary Mind School tradition, founded by Charlotte Joko Beck (1917-2011). Karen has worked as a research psychologist and university professor while maintaining an active psychotherapy practice. In 2012 Karen established Ordinary Mind Zendo in Finland and serves as our guiding teacher. She lives in Lammi.

This sesshin's visiting teacher Robert Meikyo Rosenbaum, Ph.D., worked thirty years as a neuropsychologist, psychotherapist, and behavioral medicine specialist before retiring to devote all his time to the practice of Zen and Qigong. He has received lay entrustment in Zen from Sojun Mel Weitsman of Berkeley Zen Center and been authorized as a senior teacher of Dayan (“Wild Goose”) Qigong in the lineage of Yang Meijun by Master Hui Liu of the Wen Wu School.
